I called Sprint as soon as I saw this charge. Apparently this is not one of the text scams, rather a web based scam, where you "sign up" online somehow. I don't know how they got my daughter's number, possibly she did this unknowingly. However I was able to block this kind of service from being added again to my Sprint bill. It's a separate block from the ring tone and other premium text blocks. So call CS and make sure they block these scams in the future too.

I replied stop all after this and then I got the message confirming I have discontinued my service and I haven't gotten any messages since. This service that I never signed up for and never put my cell phone number on anything that would be skeptical. I think they just send it to random phone numbers and stuff, which is sad and manipulative.

Well, maybe. The 3rd party (scam) can simply unsubscribe you from 989-52 and send another text from say 989-53 with that text setup to automatically bill you if you do not reply to the text. This way the vendor/scam artist can perpetuate your subscription.
If you're on ATT call 611,unsubscribe from the service(s) and block mobile purchases.
It's the only way you can be sure...

I did NOT opt-in to this service even accidentally. Sprint/Questize simple started STEALING $9.99 a month from me by adding the service to my Verizon cellphone bill. The New York Times reported that this happened to many people - they did NOT opt-in but were charged for the service. And, yes, Verizon immediately refunded all the charges but it's still STEALING which is ILLEGAL - these guys should do jail time.
