Had AT&T put a purchase block on the phone to prevent unauthorized purchases like this. They credited my account for the 9.99 and cancelled the subscription (who knows what it was for)

My wife accidentally opened a text from this company. It immediately told her she was subscribed to some bogus service. She immediately replied STOP and called the company and was told she would not be charged. However, we had a $9.99 charge show up on our AT&T bill anyway. She called back the company and they were not helpful and wanted us to fax the AT&T bill (which would go even further towards compromising our identity with these scammers). She is now calling AT&T. Beware of this criminal scam.

i called ATT and indeed i was being charge monthly, reoccurring for unsolicited gaming, + message cost. They could put a stop on it for 4.99 per month. So my options as ATT presented it was pay ATT 4.95 per month, or pay Brain Cool IQ 9.99 per month. What is this? Extortion?

Called them and they said they cancelled the account and I would get a confirmation message in 48 hours. That didn't sound right to me because I had texted stop 3 times and not gotten a response. Those usually respond instantly. I called AT&T they removed the charge and blocked them for free. They called a parental control on charges against the account.

I have replied "stop" 3 times and they keep sending me unwanted texts. What can I do about this? I already have child controls on my ATT account, so they can not charge me the 9.99/month, but I would like them to stop the random BS texts. Are there any ramifications for not honoring my wishes? I'd like to get them reprimanded somehow, but don't know who to contact.

I had 94408 and one other number charging my phone $9.99 a month and never signed up for anything! My husband and daughter each had one on their phones too! That's an extra $40 on our phone bill. ATT was actually very nice about it and reimbursed the charges even though I am certain it had nothing to do with them. Ive now got a block on mobile purchases for all numbers on my plan.

They started texting me in 1/2012. Each time I would reply STOP. I would get a message back saying "you've been unsubscribed and will not be charged." but a charge would appear on my bill with a future renewal date reported.
AT&T was good about reversing the charge and "canceling the subscription" but I'm a little disappointed that they allow such a business to operate on their network anyway. In my opinion, paying by phone should be disabled by default.
They did try to hint that maybe I signed up for it "accidentally" by entering my cellphone on a website. Do they really think that it's a good idea to make something that easy? I can just start putting any cellphone number of anyone I don't like into websites like this. Brilliant idea.

I just tried today. Verizon said it should stop after texting them to stop and also they're placing a premium text message block on my phone. Kind of an inconvenience since most banks and other companies send you quick updates via texts like these. The stupid thing about this braincooliq thing is that the facts that they send are really trivial at best and so far for supposedly being signed up for 2 months i've only recieved one text message from them. FML The things people come up with to get money. I hope these people go to jail.
